Heating season

Heating season

Announce

The forced movement of nails, which leave mechanical traces of friction, ash, and rust on the paper, seems to record the fading energy of social mobilization. The kinetic installation “Heating Season” by artist Vasia Dmytryk models the conditions of laboratory observation of social emotions in the range of “mobilization – apathy.” This art book collects fragments of texts, fragments of reflections, and even fragments of works created during the “Heating Season” exhibitions in 2024 as an individual artifact in each copy.

ABOUT BOOK

The publication was created after the exhibition of Vasia Dmytryk's works “Heating Season”. The exhibition was held in Ivano-Frankivsk from January 20 to February 10, 2024, and in Odesa from March 31 to April 28, 2024. It resulted in the creation of this zine. The exhibition, which was the artist's first personal one, was dedicated to analyzing the state of total mobilization, which requires constant renewal of social and individual resources. The exhibition featured the artist's kinetic installation, which simulates the conditions of laboratory observation of social emotions in the range of “mobilization – apathy.” A “tracer” was created for the project, consisting of a system of moving magnets. It set in motion a mass of nails on the surface of the tablet, which left mechanical traces of friction and inherent pigments on interchangeable sheets of paper. The sheets with traces of the tracer's set were part of the exhibition. They can be viewed in this gallery. The exhibition “Heating Season” was held in cooperation between the Odesa National Art Museum, the NGO Museum For Change, and the NGO Asortymentna Kimnata with the support of the European Union within the EU4Culture project implemented by the Goethe Institut, Czech Centers, Danish Cultural Institute, and Institut Français de Géorgie.
